Community Guidelines

Effective July 9, 2026 · Last updated July 9, 2026

These Guidelines apply to everyone in Own Yourself Now spaces — cohorts, live sessions, the newsletter community, and any peer forum or chat. By taking part, you agree to follow them. They exist to keep the community useful, safe, and trustworthy. They form part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Service.

The most important rule: share experience, not advice. This is a peer community, not a source of legal, tax, or immigration advice. Tell your own story — what you did and what happened to you. Do not give other members legal, immigration, or tax advice, and do not rely on advice from other members. Every situation is different and the stakes are high. Always verify with your own licensed attorney, tax professional, or CPA before acting.

1. Be respectful

Treat every member with respect. No harassment, hate speech, discrimination, threats, or personal attacks. Assume good faith, disagree without hostility, and remember that many members are navigating stressful, high-stakes decisions.

2. Share experience, not advice

You may share your own experience, timeline, and what worked or didn’t work for you. You may not present yourself as a lawyer, accountant, or advisor (unless you are one and clearly say so), and you may not tell another member what they should legally do. If someone asks for legal, immigration, or tax guidance, the right answer is always: take it to your own licensed professional. Neither we nor other members are responsible for decisions you make based on community discussion.

3. Respect privacy and confidentiality

What members share in the community is shared in confidence. Do not screenshot, forward, publish, or repeat another member’s personal details, immigration situation, or case information outside the community. Never disclose or speculate about anyone’s immigration status. Share your own story freely; protect everyone else’s.

4. No spam or solicitation

Don’t use the community to advertise, recruit, sell services, or pitch other members without our permission. Genuine peer recommendations are welcome; unsolicited promotion is not.

5. Honor code and integrity

6. Enforcement

We may, at our discretion and without notice, edit or remove content, issue warnings, or suspend or remove members who violate these Guidelines or our Terms of Service. Serious or repeated violations may result in removal from the program.

7. Reporting and contact

If you see something that breaks these Guidelines, or you have a concern, tell us at info@ownyourselfnow.com. We take reports seriously and will handle them as confidentially as we reasonably can.
